An Ode to Alison

This evening of memories, of laughter and fun
The centre of attention, there can be only one
You were always a grafter, for that was your style
But you filled us with laughter, and the mischievous smile
Your personality infectious, so loving and kind
But you were just a big flirt, with a dirtier mind
Nothing was sacred, you would take us to task
Knew everything about everyone, or you would just ask
You loved all the glamour, of handbags and shoes
Lippy and hairspray, were always with you
In case you met Robbie, or some other star
When off on your travels, to Lake Garda’s bars
To say you liked Christmas, well what could we say
You wished that your motor, was a reindeer and sleigh
Bloody minded and stubborn, ultra organised to
All part of your makeup, the stories of you
They talk of success, of your wedding fayre
The hours you worked, your knowledge to share
When Zara was born, our hearts were so glad
With you now a mother, and Ian a Dad
Your happiness gleaming, and life now fulfilled
With a beautiful daughter, we were all of us thrilled
There are so many memories, still tales we could tell
From all friends and family, who knew you so well
That big hearty laugh, it sure made a din
Those sparkling eyes, and huge cheeky grin
For you now this evening, the entertainments begun
A life full of music, of laughter and fun.
